New Delhi, August 4 - During the weekly meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) members held on Tuesday, a presentation was made regarding India's accomplishments in international sports competitions and the increasing pathways for job creation in the country, which are generating millions of opportunities for the youth. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with central ministers and leaders from NDA's allied parties, attended the meeting. BJP President Nitin Naveen was seen sitting next to Prime Minister Modi during the 'Mangal Milan' gathering held in the Parliament premises.

Context of the Meeting

This meeting took place a day after the BJP's defeat in the Bihar Bankipur assembly seat, where their candidate was defeated by Prashant Kishor, who transitioned from an election strategist to a leader. The by-election in Bankipur, traditionally a BJP stronghold, became significant as Naveen vacated the seat after being elected as party president and to the Rajya Sabha.

Key Presentations

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari mentioned that Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya provided an extensive presentation on sports, highlighting that the Modi government adopted a sports policy in 2014, which has led to India winning numerous awards, including gold medals in international competitions like the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games.

Tiwari also noted that a detailed presentation on job creation was shared, indicating that employment opportunities for the youth have been consistently increasing. He stated, “From 2004 to 2014, during the UPA's tenure, only 2.89 crore youths found jobs, whereas from 2014 to 2026, a total of 17.1 crore youths have secured employment.”

Social Security Initiatives

Additionally, the NDA parliamentary party meeting included discussions on various social security schemes implemented by the government. BJP MP and former Union Minister P.P. Chaudhary remarked, “Mangal Milan is always auspicious.”

Participation of Allied Parties

Representatives from NDA's allied parties, including JD(U), JD(S), NCP, Shiv Sena, and NCPI, were also present at the meeting.

Sudip Bandopadhyay, a leader from NCPI who separated from the Trinamool Congress, mentioned that it was his first time attending the NDA parliamentary party meeting. He expressed, “I am one of the senior-most MPs in the country. Everyone in NCPI is united. It is a good experience.”

The meeting was attended by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, among other ministers and leaders.
