Rajnath Singh Reiterates India's Stance on Pakistan During Kargil Vijay Diwas
Defence Minister's Address at Kargil Vijay Diwas
On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed a gathering in Dras, Ladakh, reaffirming the central government's position on Pakistan and national security. While paying tribute to the martyrs, he emphasized that any dialogue with Pakistan would solely focus on the issue of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which he asserted is an integral part of India that has been unlawfully occupied by Pakistan.
It is noteworthy that Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated annually on July 26. In 1999, the Indian Army achieved a historic victory by driving out Pakistan-backed infiltrators during the Kargil War. This day is marked by remembering and honoring the sacrifices of the soldiers across the nation.
During his speech in Dras, Singh compared India and Pakistan, stating that India is establishing large data centers linked to artificial intelligence and modern technology, while Pakistan is focused on creating centers that promote extremism. He highlighted that this reflects the fundamental differences in the development and mindset of the two nations.
The Defence Minister also referenced the recently conducted Operation Sindoor, stating that it sent a clear message to those who support or engage in terrorism that they will face severe consequences. He asserted that India will not compromise on its security and sovereignty.
Singh praised the capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces, noting that the military has always been capable, but previously lacked political will. He emphasized that the current government exhibits strong political will and will continue to do so in the future, granting the military the autonomy to make necessary decisions in the interest of national security.
Addressing the soldiers, he stated that as long as Indian troops are guarding the borders, no nation would dare to cast a malicious glance towards India. He remarked that the era when governments in New Delhi neglected the armed forces is over, and the current government stands firmly with the military on security matters.
In conclusion, the Defence Minister paid tribute to the heroic officer of the Kargil War, Captain Vikram Batra, recalling his famous slogan, "Yeh Dil Maange More," which embodies the spirit and nature of Indian soldiers. He expressed that the world and India's neighboring countries should recognize the courage, determination, and patriotism of Indian soldiers, assuring that the Indian Army has always been capable of facing challenges and will remain steadfast in ensuring the nation's security.
