Rajnath Singh Lauds N. Chandrababu Naidu's Vision at AMCA Project Launch
Celebrating Technological Vision
On May 15, during the ceremony for laying the foundation of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project in Puttaparthi, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his foresight, technical focus, and commitment to development. Singh highlighted Naidu's passion for technology and forward-thinking approach, stating that throughout his extensive public career, he has encountered many leaders and worked with numerous representatives. However, he noted that Naidu's enthusiasm for technology, dedication to progress, and visionary outlook are rare qualities.
Rajnath further expressed that it is impossible to have a narrow mindset when it comes to Naidu. He commended the Chief Minister's dedication to the advancement of Andhra Pradesh, asserting that the commitment Naidu has shown towards the state's development has been recognized not only within India but also on international platforms. Previously, Naidu described the AMCA project as a symbol of Andhra Pradesh's "rapid operational capability" and its ambition to become a major defense manufacturing hub. He emphasized that this initiative would bolster India's indigenous defense capabilities and support the self-reliance of the aerospace sector.
Highlighting India's Technological Growth
According to the Chief Minister's office, Naidu also referenced Operation Sindoor as an example of India's growing technological prowess. A statement indicated that this ₹15,803 crore project, spanning approximately 650 acres, is expected to create around 7,500 jobs and will include a dedicated defense township. During the event, Naidu, Singh, and State Minister Nara Lokesh laid the foundation for the AMCA project alongside other defense initiatives under the Drone City program. The trio also observed a defense exhibition featuring missiles, weapons, and a prototype of a combat aircraft. The project encompasses a flight testing center, naval system facilities, defense energy units, an ammunition plant, and infrastructure projects for the Drone City.
