Rajnath Singh Honors Atal Bihari Vajpayee's Legacy on His Birth Anniversary

Remembering Atal Bihari Vajpayee

On Wednesday, Defence Minister and MP from Lucknow, Rajnath Singh, emphasized that the stature of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee cannot be measured by his official titles but rather by his actions and character.

Speaking at a solo poetry event held on the eve of Vajpayee's birth anniversary, Singh remarked that while some individuals gain respect due to their positions, others earn it through their deeds and integrity. He stated, “Atal Bihari Vajpayee was one such personality.”

Singh highlighted that Vajpayee was a remarkable individual, and many gathered to commemorate him on this significant occasion. He noted that even though Vajpayee is no longer with us, there remains a strong desire among people to pay tribute to him.

He added, “In times of turmoil in public life, Vajpayee remained vibrant and humble. It is undeniable that he left a profound impact on the hearts and minds of the people as a beloved leader.”

Reflecting on Vajpayee's student days, Singh recalled that during his 10th-grade studies, Vajpayee penned his first famous poem, “Hindu Tan Man, Hindu Jeevan, Rag Rag Hindu Mera Parichay.”

He mentioned that despite being a young student, many renowned scholars and intellectuals who heard the poem remarked that its author was no ordinary person and would shape the future of India.

Singh recounted that in 1942, during a camp at Kalicharan College, Vajpayee recited this poem in the presence of RSS chief M.S. Golwalkar, which resonated with thunderous applause from the audience. The Defence Minister expressed that he would never forget Vajpayee's words: 'No one can achieve greatness with a small mind, and no one can stand tall with a broken spirit.'
