Rajnath Singh Highlights BRO's Contributions at Strategic Infrastructure Conclave

On Thursday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the 'Strategic Infrastructure Conclave' organized by the Border Roads Organization (BRO), praising the organization's contributions over the past sixty-five years. He emphasized that the BRO has truly embodied its motto, 'With Hard Work, Everything is Possible.' Referring to projects like the Atal Tunnel and the Sela Tunnel, he noted the unprecedented speed at which roads and highways are being constructed in challenging terrains and high altitudes, a pace never seen before in history. He credited the organization's unwavering commitment to adopting technology as its greatest strength. As a member of the BRO family, he expressed pride in their achievements, particularly those of the last decade.

Rajnath Singh stressed the enduring strategic significance of infrastructure, stating that regardless of a country's strength, a solid foundation is essential for stability. The BRO also constructs airfields in border areas. He asserted that no matter how warfare evolves, the importance of roads, tunnels, and airfields will always remain. The BRO has transformed itself from merely a construction agency to one of the most respected strategic infrastructure organizations globally.

Commenting on the timing of the conclave, he highlighted the significant changes in infrastructure across India, noting that the theme of the conclave—enhancing capacity through technology, innovation, and effective implementation—is crucial for the future. He remarked that civilizations are remembered not only for their achievements but also for the roads and infrastructure they built. The infrastructure being developed in India today will become a vital part of its civilization's identity.

Addressing criticisms of previous infrastructure projects, the Defence Minister acknowledged that while progress has been made since independence, it has not received the attention it deserved, falling short of the nation's capabilities and needs. Over the past decade, efforts have been made to connect villages, mountains, and remote areas. The focus has also been on enhancing connectivity through roads, railways, air travel, and digital infrastructure.

He further asserted that a country's future is directly linked to the strength of its infrastructure. Therefore, the government will continue to work with the same dedication in the coming years. In addition to road, rail, air, and digital connectivity, the government is also implementing the 'Vibrant Village Program.' Border villages, once referred to as the 'last village' of the country, are now being developed as the 'first village' of the nation.
