During an event in Bengaluru, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh voiced his worries regarding the delays in crucial defense and aerospace projects. Speaking on September 18, 2026, at a Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) function, he emphasized that such delays should be taken seriously, as they not only hinder the fulfillment of defense requirements but also escalate project costs.

Need for Realistic Timelines

Singh highlighted the necessity for realistic and practical timelines for defense projects. He pointed out that delays caused by technical issues could lead to increased costs over time. Furthermore, in an era of rapidly evolving technology, there is a risk that the technology being developed may become outdated by the time the equipment is ready for deployment.

During the event, HAL delivered two LCA Tejas trainer aircraft and three HTT-40 basic trainer planes to the Indian Air Force. Additionally, four Dhruv Next Generation helicopters were handed over to Pawan Hans.
