Lucknow, Oct 16: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has sharply criticized the Congress party, asserting that their current struggle is not aimed at the Election Commission or the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), but rather a bid to seize power through chaos in the nation. He drew parallels with Bangladesh, accusing the party of promoting a 'regime change' agenda.
During a press conference in Lucknow, Singh expressed concern over recent events in Delhi, suggesting they reveal Congress's true motives. He claimed the party is attempting to misdirect the youth's energy away from national development towards creating unrest.
“Their goal is to instigate a regime change akin to what has happened in Bangladesh, as they openly state their intentions to topple the government. This clearly indicates their primary objective is to undermine democratic institutions,” Singh stated.
He further emphasized that the rhetoric of 'regime change' indicates that Congress's fight is not for the Election Commission, SIR, or the future of the youth, but rather a quest for power through disorder. Singh remarked that when political self-interest supersedes truth and national welfare, democratic dialogue becomes tainted by stubbornness and harmful propaganda.
In his remarks directed at Rahul Gandhi and his allies, Singh asserted that democracy should not serve as a justification for chaos, the degradation of constitutional institutions, or the obstruction of India's advancement.
“Rahul Gandhi and his supporters need to realize that democracy does not grant them the right to create anarchy, damage constitutional frameworks, or impede the nation's progress,” he stated.
Singh also urged Gandhi to honor the people's mandate and reflect on his political contributions instead of instigating disruptions under the guise of defending democracy.
“Rahul Gandhi should focus on respecting the people's choice and engage in self-reflection regarding his political role, rather than causing political turmoil in the name of saving democracy. This is my advice to him. The future of India rests on everyone's shoulders,” he concluded.
