Rajasthani Cuisine Showcased at Presidential Dinner for South Korean President

A lavish dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at the Presidential Palace celebrated the rich culinary traditions of Rajasthan in honor of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung. The event featured a specially curated menu by renowned chef Dr. Saurabh Sharma and his team, showcasing traditional dishes from various regions of Rajasthan. Guests, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, praised the exquisite flavors and presentation of the meal, which highlighted the state's diverse culinary heritage. The meticulous preparation process involved extensive research and trials over a month and a half, ensuring each dish reflected Rajasthan's authentic identity. This event not only honored the guests but also promoted the state's rich cultural legacy.
 

A Royal Culinary Experience in Jaipur


Jaipur. A special dinner held at the Presidential Palace on Monday evening highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan through its traditional cuisine. This grand state banquet was hosted by President Droupadi Murmu in honor of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, with the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several national ministers adding to the evening's prestige.


The primary aim of this exclusive dinner was to introduce guests to the diverse and delectable dishes from various regions of Rajasthan. Renowned chef Dr. Saurabh Sharma and his team were responsible for curating this special menu.




While enjoying the Rajasthani feast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the chefs and their team, stating, "This was a magnificent experience of Rajasthani cuisine." President Secretary Deepti Umashankar congratulated Chef Dr. Saurabh and his team for representing Rajasthani culinary heritage at this prestigious event, expressing her best wishes for their future endeavors. Shashi Tharoor also remarked on the delicious vegetarian nature of the Rajasthani dishes.


Highlights of the Menu


Chef Saurabh, along with his team including Chef Ravindra Naruka, Chef Himmat Singh, Chef Ratiram Prajapat, and Executive Chef Mukesh Kumar from the Presidential Palace, presented a royal feast. They served traditional dishes from the royal families of regions like Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner, and Jaipur in a modern style. The menu captivated guests with dishes such as Jowar ka Rab, Govind Gatta, Dhungari Palak Mangodi, Silver Dal, Jaisalmeri Pulao, and Gulab Baati-Churma, showcasing the diversity of Rajasthan. Desserts like Kheerand Malpua and Ghevar offered a taste of traditional sweetness. Notably, while presenting these dishes in a contemporary manner, their authenticity and heritage were meticulously preserved.


Preparation Spanning Over a Month and a Half


Chef Saurabh credited his success to his mother, Dr. Uma Sharma, and his wife, Dr. Neha Sharma, emphasizing the importance of family support. He revealed that the finalization of this special menu involved extensive research and numerous trials over a period of about one and a half months. He delved deeply into Rajasthan's traditional cooking, local ingredients, and ancient culinary techniques to ensure that each dish was not only exquisite in taste but also reflected the true identity of Rajasthan in its presentation. Various combinations and techniques were experimented with multiple times, leading to the careful selection of each dish for the final menu, aiming to create a memorable experience at the state banquet on an international level.
