Rajasthan Royals Celebrate Close Win

Riyan Parag, the captain of Rajasthan Royals (RR), praised his teammates Jofra Archer, Tushar Deshpande, and Dhruv Jurel following a tense six-run victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) during their IPL 2026 match on Saturday.

Thrilling Finish: RR Edges Out GT

The 2008 champions demonstrated resilience to clinch a nail-biting win over the Gujarat Titans. Despite a strong performance from GT's Sai Sudharsan and a late push from Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada, RR's Ravi Bishnoi's impressive four-wicket haul was pivotal. The match reached a climax as GT needed 11 runs in the final over, but Tushar Deshpande maintained his composure, conceding only four runs and dismissing Rashid Khan, who scored 24 runs off 16 balls, while partnering with Rabada, who remained unbeaten at 23 runs off 16 balls.

Parag Discusses Bowling Strategy

In the post-match presentation, Parag reflected on the team's bowling tactics during the death overs, stating, "It was just incredible. I took a challenge, thinking that let's go full and fast. It's insane that they (Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande) executed as we wanted. Dhruv Jurel suggested I go to Jofra Archer for the 19th over, so credit to him for that. If it works out, great; if not, we try again."

Jurel's Potential Recognized

Parag also expressed confidence in Jurel's batting abilities, advocating for a more significant role in the batting order. He remarked, "We have not done a lot of justice to the talent he has. He has to bat No. 3, and hopefully, this is the start for him."

Next Challenge: Mumbai Indians

Looking forward, Parag indicated that the team would quickly shift their focus to the upcoming match against the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians. He stated, "We will focus on what we need to do against Mumbai."

With this victory, RR now leads the IPL 2026 points table with four points from two matches and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of +2.233. Conversely, this loss marked GT's second consecutive defeat, making it the first time they have lost their initial two matches of the IPL season.
