Rajasthan Royals Manager Fined for Mobile Phone Use During IPL Match

Fine Imposed on Rajasthan Royals Team Manager

Ravinder Singh Bhinder, the manager of Rajasthan Royals (RR), has been penalized with a fine of ₹1 lakh for violating regulations by using a mobile phone in the dugout during their IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Barsapara Cricket Stadium on April 10. The Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA) rules explicitly prohibit mobile phone usage in the dugout. While team and media managers can use their phones, it is restricted to the dressing room only. Bhinder was caught using his phone during the 11th over of the Royals' batting innings.


IPL's Official Statement Regarding the Violation

"Rajasthan Royals Team Manager, Ravinder Singh Bhinder, has been fined ₹1 lakh for violating the BCCI IPL PMOA Protocols during Match 16 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at ACA Stadium, Guwahati, on April 10, 2026. This violation pertains to the use of a mobile phone in the dugout, which breaches Article 4.1.1 of the BCCI IPL PMOA Protocols," stated the IPL.


"Mr. Bhinder acknowledged his mistake and issued an unconditional apology. Since this was his first violation of the protocols, a fine of ₹1 lakh was imposed as per Article 7.42(a) of the BCCI IPL PMOA Protocols. He has been advised to be more cautious in the future and to comply with the established guidelines," the statement continued.


Match Outcome and Current Standings

In the match, Rajasthan Royals triumphed over Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets, thanks to an explosive performance from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who scored 78 runs off just 26 balls. The Royals currently hold the third position on the points table and are set to face the three-time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), at the renowned Eden Gardens next.
