Rajasthan's Agricultural Advancement Initiative

In Jaipur, the state government is set to take significant steps aimed at enhancing farmers' income, making agriculture more profitable and sustainable, and conserving natural resources. The Department of Agriculture and Horticulture plans to establish extensive coordination with over 30 esteemed organizations, including NGOs, civil society groups, research and educational institutions, social organizations, and agritech companies, through non-financial Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).

Naresh Kumar Goyal, the Agriculture Commissioner, announced that an MoU signing event will take place on Friday at the Pant Agriculture Bhawan in Jaipur, where senior officials from the agriculture department and representatives from various organizations will be present.

He highlighted that the agricultural sector is currently facing severe challenges such as climate change, erratic rainfall, declining groundwater levels, reduced soil fertility, rising production costs, and increasing pressure on natural resources. Addressing these issues requires a robust partnership between the government, research institutions, agricultural experts, civil society organizations, and farmers, rather than relying solely on government efforts.

In line with this vision, the department has initiated collaboration with various organizations. A state-level consultation workshop held on January 12, 2026, facilitated detailed discussions with expert institutions, social organizations, and representatives from the agricultural sector. Based on the suggestions and experiences gathered, this innovative model of collaboration has been developed, leading to the establishment of non-financial agreements with various entities.

A key feature of these agreements is that they will not impose any additional financial burden on the state government. The organizations will contribute their expertise, technical capabilities, experience, and resources to effectively implement the agriculture department's plans. This will ensure that the benefits of departmental schemes reach a broader spectrum of farmers and will accelerate agricultural development.

The primary aim of these MoUs is to promote natural farming, organic agriculture, climate-resilient agricultural systems, soil and water conservation, agricultural diversification, dissemination of modern agricultural techniques, digital agriculture, training and capacity building for farmers, empowerment of women and youth farmers, and the promotion of agriculture-based entrepreneurship. Special emphasis will also be placed on reducing farming costs, increasing productivity, conserving natural resources, and ensuring sustainable income growth for farmers.

Collaborating organizations will work in various fields according to their expertise. Some will assist in the expansion of natural and organic farming, while others will promote water conservation and community-based natural resource management. Additionally, other organizations will collaborate with the department to develop agricultural innovations, agritech solutions, digital platforms, farmer training, market linkages, value addition, climate-resilient technologies, and research-based agricultural models.

This partnership with these organizations is expected to present a new model for agricultural development in Rajasthan. The benefits of departmental schemes will reach farmers more effectively, modern technologies will be disseminated rapidly, and a sustainable and profitable agricultural system will be strengthened alongside natural resource conservation. This initiative is poised to become a significant milestone in transforming agricultural innovation, natural farming, and climate-resilient agriculture into a people's movement in the state.
