Rajasthan Delegation Lauds Odisha's Urban Service Innovations
Rajasthan Delegation Visits Odisha to Explore Urban Innovations
A nine-member team from the Rajasthan Urban Drinking Water Sewerage and Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (RUIDP) in Jaipur recently visited Bhubaneswar and Puri. Their trip, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), aimed to explore Odisha's exemplary practices in urban service delivery, particularly in water supply and sanitation. The delegation inspected significant urban infrastructure projects and engaged with officials from the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to understand the state's urban governance and citizen-focused initiatives.
One of the program's highlights was an engaging session at the Odisha Urban Academy, led by Usha Padhee, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development department. Padhee provided an in-depth overview of Odisha's urban transformation and showcased innovative initiatives that have positioned the state as a national leader in urban reforms. She emphasized the flagship 'Drink from Tap' Mission, which sets a standard in urban water supply management by guaranteeing safe and consistent access to quality drinking water for residents. Additionally, she discussed Odisha's accomplishments in sanitation, waste management, integrated urban planning, modernization of public transport, technology-driven governance, and sustainable urban infrastructure development.
