Rajasthan Athletes Shine at World Yogasana Championship

Rajasthan's athletes have made a remarkable impact at the World Yogasana Championship, with several medal winners being congratulated by former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The event showcased India's dominance in yoga, with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praising the country's impressive medal tally. Gehlot Praises Rajasthan Athletes

On Wednesday, Ashok Gehlot, the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, expressed his congratulations to the state's athletes, including members of the Rajasthan Police, for their impressive performances at the inaugural World Yogasana Championship (WYC) in Ahmedabad.


In a message shared on X, Gehlot celebrated the achievements of gold medalists Ritik Bishnoi, Arjun Parihar, Aryanshi Swami, Constable Devanshi Sharma from the Rajasthan Police, Arjun Parmar, and Gayatri, as well as silver medalist Suman Yadav. He stated, "Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Ritik Bishnoi, Arjun Parihar, Aryanshi Swami, Constable Devanshi Sharma, Arjun Parmar, and Gayatri for their gold medals, and to Suman Yadav for his silver medal at the First World Asana Championship in Ahmedabad."


Gehlot also expressed his hopes for the athletes' futures, wishing that they would continue to bring pride to Rajasthan and the nation through their hard work and dedication. "I wish for a bright future for all of you. May you continue to bring glory to Rajasthan and the country with your talent and hard work," he added.


Dhami Commends India's Performance

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami praised India's remarkable achievements at the WYC 2026, calling it a source of national pride. India concluded its campaign at the inaugural World Yogasana Championships with an impressive total of 114 medals, including a staggering 102 gold medals, showcasing their dominance in the competition.


In a post on X, Dhami emphasized the significance of India's total medal count, which comprised 102 gold, 9 silver, and 3 bronze medals. He remarked, "The historic achievement of winning 114 medals, including 102 gold, 9 silver, and 3 bronze, at the World Yoga Asana Championship 2026 is a point of pride for every citizen. This unprecedented success reflects the dedication and discipline of our youth, as well as the global recognition of India's ancient yoga tradition."


He further noted that this performance highlights India's cultural strength and its leadership role in yoga, which originated in the country. "This outstanding performance by India, the birthplace of yoga, reinforces our cultural prowess and global leadership. Congratulations and best wishes to all players, coaches, and organizers for their exceptional performance at the World Yoga Asana Championship. We believe these yoga warriors will continue to elevate the nation's pride in the future," Dhami concluded.


A total of 522 athletes from 79 nations participated in the Championships, with 31 of them earning at least one medal, and ten securing at least one gold medal.
