Rahul Gandhi's Bold Claims: Are BJP MPs Winning Seats Through 'Vote Theft'?
Allegations of Electoral Fraud by Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi: On Wednesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made serious allegations against the BJP, claiming that one in every six BJP MPs in the Lok Sabha attained their positions through 'vote theft'. He provocatively questioned whether these individuals should be referred to as 'ghuspethiya', a term used by the BJP itself.
Gandhi asserted that if elections were conducted fairly, the BJP would struggle to secure even 140 seats in the Lok Sabha.
He elaborated, stating, 'Vote theft can occur on an individual basis or can lead to the entire government being compromised. Out of the 240 BJP MPs, approximately one-sixth gained their seats through such means,' he expressed in a Hindi post on X.
He further criticized the BJP, suggesting that they are easily identifiable and questioned if they should be labeled as 'ghuspethiya'. He also pointed to Haryana, claiming that the entire state government fits this description. Gandhi accused the BJP of manipulating institutions to distort voter lists and the electoral process.
'Their greatest fear is the truth. If fair elections were to take place, they would not even manage to win 140 seats today,' he stated.
Earlier, Gandhi had described the BJP's victories in the Bengal and Assam assembly elections as a 'theft' of the people's mandate, marking a significant step in the BJP's agenda to undermine Indian democracy.
He expressed solidarity with the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which faced defeat in the elections, urging those celebrating TMC's loss to rise above petty politics.
'Some within Congress and other parties are reveling in TMC's defeat. They must recognize that the BJP's manipulation of the mandates in Assam and Bengal is a grave threat to Indian democracy,' he remarked in a post on X.
'This transcends party lines; it is about the future of India,' he emphasized.
The BJP successfully displaced the Trinamool Congress in Bengal and secured a third consecutive victory in Assam, as announced in the assembly election results on Monday.
