Congress Leader's Strong Criticism

In a recent statement, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Pralhad Joshi, labeling him a "defender of rapists" and a "filthy man". This remark was directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for appointing Joshi as the education minister of India.

Addressing the media outside Parliament, Gandhi expressed his disbelief that the Prime Minister would select someone like Joshi, especially when there are numerous capable individuals in his cabinet.

"The current Education Minister, amidst protests from young people regarding the education system, is someone who defends rapists. This is the most disgraceful type of individual. There is no one more despicable than someone who believes rapists deserve protection," Gandhi stated.

He further remarked on the Prime Minister's unusual choice, emphasizing that there were many other options available within the cabinet.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress's general secretary, echoed similar sentiments in Lok Sabha while discussing a bill aimed at combating paper leaks and other exam-related malpractices, asserting that such appointments convey a negative message.

Her comments sparked a commotion in the Lok Sabha, with members from the treasury benches demanding verification of her statements.

Vadra later assured that she would substantiate her claims, referencing a video featuring Joshi.

"In a time when discussions about women's rights and reservations are prevalent, this sends a very wrong message regarding the challenges women face in society, including their safety," Vadra added.

The Congress party also shared a previous video of Joshi, where he was seen with individuals convicted in the Bilkis Bano case, stating, "I don’t think there is anything wrong in that because that is being done as per process of law."
