On Sunday, Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, commenced his 'Voter Rights Journey' from Sasaram, Bihar. During this event, he accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of manipulating elections across the country.
Allegations of Election Manipulation
While addressing the public in Sasaram, Rahul Gandhi stated, 'I want to inform you from this platform that elections for both the Assembly and Lok Sabha are being stolen across the nation.' He further claimed that the BJP's latest scheme involves undermining the elections in Bihar under the guise of Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Rahul asserted, 'We will not allow them to steal this election.'
Raising Awareness About Election Integrity
He emphasized that the entire nation is now aware of the actions of the Election Commission. According to Rahul, previously, people were unaware of how votes were being manipulated, but he has brought this truth to light through press conferences.
Caste Census and Support for Lalu Prasad Yadav
Rahul Gandhi expressed skepticism about Prime Minister Narendra Modi genuinely conducting a caste census. However, he assured that the 'India' bloc would ensure a proper caste census in the country. He stated, 'We will prevent vote theft and expose the truth behind SIR.' During this occasion, he also thanked RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, saying, 'Thank you, Lalu Ji, for coming here despite the doctor's advice.'
Kharge Labels Modi as 'Dangerous'
In the same event, Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Modi. He remarked, 'He is a very dangerous man. Until you remove him from power, your votes, rights, freedom, and even the Constitution will not be safe.' Kharge's statement is seen as a significant political strike against the BJP during the 'Voter Rights Journey,' aimed at showcasing the strength of the Grand Alliance and mobilizing the public ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
