Rahul Gandhi's Strong Remarks on Water Pollution in Indore

On Friday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi targeted the BJP-led government in Indore, labeling the recent water pollution incident as a case of distributing poison, while the administration remained oblivious. He expressed concern over the repeated complaints from residents regarding dirty and foul-smelling water, which went unaddressed. Gandhi took to social media to state that what was distributed in Indore was not water but poison, criticizing the administration for its negligence. He noted that families are mourning, the poor are helpless, and instead of support, they received arrogant statements from BJP leaders.

Gandhi further questioned why there was no action taken despite numerous complaints about the contaminated water. He raised concerns about how sewage ended up in drinking water and why the supply wasn't halted in time. He demanded accountability from responsible officials and leaders, asserting that these are not trivial questions but a call for responsibility. Clean water is not a favor; it is a fundamental right, and the BJP's double engine, along with its careless administration and insensitive leadership, is entirely to blame for the violation of this right.

The Congress leader remarked that Madhya Pradesh has become a hub of misgovernance, citing instances of deaths from cough syrup, rodents in government hospitals, and now fatalities from drinking contaminated water. He pointed out that whenever the poor suffer, Prime Minister Modi remains silent as always. This response comes in light of reports of multiple deaths and hospitalizations due to the contaminated water. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has announced financial aid of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and free treatment for all affected individuals.
