Concerns Over Redistricting in Tamil Nadu

On Saturday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi condemned the proposed redistricting process, labeling it a scheme by the ruling BJP aimed at undermining Tamil Nadu's political influence. He warned that anyone supporting this redistricting would be considered a 'Ettappan'—a term in Tamil denoting betrayal. Speaking to reporters in Mahabalipuram, Gandhi asserted that the BJP's efforts to redraw electoral boundaries are intended to strip citizens of their political rights and diminish the political power of the Tamil people, calling it a deliberate conspiracy by the BJP.

Allegations Against Supporters of Redistricting

During a press interaction near Mamallapuram, Gandhi accused those who back the redistricting of betraying Tamil Nadu and its future, thereby granting the RSS-BJP an opportunity to attack the state's populace. He emphasized that no Tamil individual should endorse the redistricting and urged all Tamils to oppose it.

Meeting with Families of NEET Victims

In a separate engagement, Rahul Gandhi met with families of students who tragically took their lives while preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in Tamil Nadu. He expressed that it is heartbreaking for parents to mourn their children, stating, 'There is nothing more painful than seeing parents grieving for their child.' Gandhi highlighted the systemic issues within the education framework, pointing out the severe impact of exam leaks and cancellations that can ruin years of hard work for students.
