Rahul Gandhi Criticizes Amit Shah for Avoiding Parliament During Monsoon Session

Opposition Leader's Accusations

On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of not attending Parliament during the Monsoon session due to his alleged misconduct against students. In a post on X, Gandhi claimed that the Home Minister is hiding his face because of his actions against the student community. The opposition has been consistently raising concerns regarding the Delhi Police's alleged actions against protesting students.

Parliamentary Proceedings Disrupted

Shortly after the Lok Sabha session commenced on Wednesday, the proceedings were adjourned until 2 PM due to continuous disruptions in the house. Mallikarjun Kharge, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and Congress president, reiterated the demand for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to make statements in Parliament. Kharge emphasized that both leaders should address the house, stating, 'We are ready for discussion; solutions will come through dialogue.' He further remarked that it has been several days since the session began, and by not attending, they are disrespecting Parliament.

Calls for Accountability

Earlier, Congress MP Syed Nasir Hussain stated that both the Prime Minister and Home Minister should be held accountable for the use of force and pellet guns against students during the protests at Jantar Mantar. Hussain insisted that Amit Shah must come to Parliament to explain the police's actions against students and address issues such as the alleged misappropriation of donations for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He also called for a statement regarding the restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, as Shah had previously promised the people of the region.

Opposition March Against Government

On July 20, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and other opposition MPs marched from the Gandhi statue to the Parliament's main gate in protest against the police action against CJP demonstrators, alleged mismanagement of donations for the Ayodhya Ram Temple, and other pressing issues.
