During his 'Students' Echo' event in Prayagraj on Friday, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, emphasized that the BJP-led central government only yields when voices unite. He highlighted that the persistent protests by students against exam paper leaks have compelled the government to take responsibility. In a post on X the previous day, Gandhi referenced the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following months of protests regarding alleged irregularities in recruitment exams, asserting that collective action forced the government to respond.

Concerns of Students in Prayagraj

Gandhi pointed out that Prayagraj is a hub for students preparing for competitive exams, where every student is aware of the system's corruption. He stated that the issue lies not in the students' efforts but in a system that fails to value their hard work. He addressed the challenges faced by job seekers, including paper leaks, stalled recruitment processes, and significant delays in appointments. Referring to his recent discussions with students in Kota and Dehradun, he noted similar complaints emerging from various states. Additionally, he accused the police of taking action against students questioning the examination system in Delhi.

A Call to Action

He remarked that ultimately, a minister had to resign, asserting that the government bends only when people unite and raise their voices. Gandhi invited students to join a discussion scheduled for August 8 at 5 PM at KP Ground in Prayagraj. This event faced uncertainty for a while after KP College Management withdrew permission for the use of their sports ground, citing educational reasons and a directive from the Allahabad High Court that emphasized no disruption to academic activities.

Event Approval and Purpose

The college management had previously informed the local Congress unit in a letter that organizers should cancel the booking and retrieve the deposited amount. However, the administration later reversed the cancellation, allowing the event to proceed. This gathering in Prayagraj is part of Congress's effort to engage with students and youth on issues such as exam integrity, recruitment delays, and unemployment.
