He accused the government of suppressing dissent during the debate on the 'Anti-Paper Leak Bill'. His remarks followed a heated discussion regarding the proposed legislation, where he asserted that the voices of the opposition were being stifled while the ruling party was allowed to speak freely. This incident has intensified the ongoing political tensions during the monsoon session.

Claims of Suppression

Gandhi expressed frustration, stating that he, as the opposition leader, was not permitted to voice his opinions. He mentioned that he had repeatedly requested the Speaker to maintain order in the house so he could speak, but was denied. The justification given was that he had made comments about Amit Shah, suggesting that he was responsible for the brutality witnessed. Gandhi was reportedly told that if he apologized, he would be allowed to continue speaking, but he firmly stated he would never apologize to anyone associated with the BJP or RSS.

Allegations Against Amit Shah

He further claimed to have witnessed students injured by pellet guns during protests in Delhi and observed police using batons against them. Targeting Home Minister Amit Shah, Gandhi stated that the Delhi Police operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the force used against protesters falls under its jurisdiction. He alleged that the orders to act against the students came directly from Shah.

Call for Accountability

Gandhi asserted that if the Home Minister was unaware of the brutal force used against protesters, it indicated incompetence; if he was aware, it implied culpability. He intensified his criticism of Shah regarding police actions against demonstrators at Jantar Mantar, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remove Shah from his position and to initiate an independent investigation into the incidents.

Right to Speak

He reiterated that he was not allowed to speak while others, like Rajnath Singh and Kiren Rijiju, were given opportunities. Gandhi emphasized that as the leader of the opposition, it was his right to raise issues of national importance, particularly highlighting the police actions against students protesting the alleged NEET paper leak as a critical matter for the nation.
