Raghav Chadha Explains Decision to Join BJP Amidst Controversy
Raghav Chadha's Shift to BJP
New Delhi. Raghav Chadha has clarified his decision to join the BJP, stating that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has changed significantly and the work environment has become toxic. He accused the party of stifling voices and allowing corrupt individuals to gain influence.
As he embarks on a new political journey, Chadha addressed the questions surrounding his switch to the BJP. On Monday, he shared a video on Instagram explaining the reasons behind his choice.
Chadha mentioned that since announcing his party change, he has received numerous messages over the past three days. Many have congratulated him, while others are curious about why he left AAP.
“I did not enter politics to build my career,” he stated, recalling his previous profession as a chartered accountant, which offered him a promising career. He emphasized that he left that path to become a founding member of a political party.
“This party is no longer what it used to be,” he remarked, reflecting on the 15 years he dedicated to nurturing the party with hard work and commitment. He expressed disappointment over the current toxic atmosphere that hinders work and silences voices in Parliament, claiming the party is now dominated by a few corrupt individuals.
Chadha outlined three options he considered over the years: first, to leave politics altogether; second, to remain in the party and attempt to make changes, which he felt was futile; and third, to channel his energy and experience into positive politics with a new platform and party.
“Seven people cannot be wrong,” he asserted, referring to the six other MPs who also decided to sever ties with the party. He questioned whether all the educated individuals who once believed in the party's vision could be mistaken.
He drew a parallel to a toxic workplace, asking how one could perform well in an environment that suppresses effort and silences voices, suggesting that leaving such a situation is often the best choice.
Chadha reassured his supporters that he would continue to raise their everyday issues with even more vigor and that he would work towards finding and implementing solutions to those problems.
