Raghav Chadha Critiques AAP Leadership in Rajya Sabha Speech

In a recent session of the Rajya Sabha, Raghav Chadha openly criticized the absence of AAP leaders during his speech, highlighting internal party conflicts. His remarks came during a congratulatory event for Harivansh Narayan Singh, who was re-elected as Deputy Chairman. Chadha's comments reflect ongoing tensions within the party, particularly following his recent sidelining. This article delves into the implications of his statements and the political dynamics at play.
 

Chadha's Remarks in Rajya Sabha

On Friday, Raghav Chadha, a member of parliament, took the floor in the Rajya Sabha and made pointed comments about his own party, following recent public disagreements. He noted the absence of party leaders in the house, seemingly referring to senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh. Chadha further remarked that the newly appointed deputy leader was also missing, indicating Ashok Kumar Mittal, another MP from Punjab and a businessman-politician.

During a congratulatory event for Harivansh Narayan Singh, who was elected unopposed as the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha for the third time on April 17, Chadha expressed gratitude for the opportunity to speak, stating, 'I am the recently removed deputy leader and I am present in the house.' Harivansh, a former journalist turned politician, was re-elected as Deputy Chairman on Friday.




Central Minister and Leader of the House, J.P. Nadda, introduced a motion for Harivansh's election, which was supported by S. Fangnon Konyak. Following a voice vote, Harivansh was elected for a third term. A total of five motions were presented in favor of his candidacy. After the motion passed, Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan announced, 'I declare that Harivansh has been elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.'

Following this, the Chairman requested both Nadda and Opposition Leader Mallikarjun Kharge to escort Harivansh to his designated seat as Deputy Chairman. The two leaders accompanied him to the seat located next to that of the Opposition Leader. The position of Deputy Chairman became vacant after Harivansh's term in the Rajya Sabha ended on April 9.
