Raghav Chadha Criticizes AAP Leadership After Joining BJP

Raghav Chadha, a former AAP member, has publicly criticized the party's leadership and environment after joining the BJP. In an emotional video, he expressed his disillusionment with AAP, claiming it has become corrupt and toxic. Chadha, who left a successful career as a Chartered Accountant to serve in politics, stated that he and six other leaders felt compelled to leave due to the party's deteriorating conditions. He emphasized that his decision was based on disappointment rather than fear. As AAP faces challenges ahead of upcoming elections, Chadha's departure raises questions about the party's future.

Raghav Chadha's Departure from AAP

Raghav Chadha, a founding member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has launched a direct attack on his former party and its leader, Arvind Kejriwal, following his recent switch to the BJP. In an emotional video message, Chadha expressed that he had been a "right person in the wrong party" for too long, and the "suffocating environment" within AAP ultimately compelled him to leave.

He further claimed that AAP has transformed and is now led by corrupt politicians who prioritize their own interests.

Chadha's Political Journey

As a member of the Rajya Sabha, Chadha revealed that he had abandoned a successful career as a Chartered Accountant to serve the nation through politics. However, he stated that the "toxic work environment" forced him and six other leaders to exit the party. In a recent video shared on Instagram, he reassured the public that he would continue to advocate for the issues affecting ordinary citizens.

Reflections on His Political Career

Chadha mentioned, "Before entering politics, I was a CA. I did not step into politics to build a career. I became a founding member of a political party and dedicated 15 crucial years of my youth to it. However, the party is no longer the same. The working atmosphere is dreadful, and you are often silenced in Parliament."

The Decision to Leave AAP

He asserted that while one or two individuals might be mistaken, seven cannot be wrong. Chadha dismissed claims that he left AAP due to fear or pressure, stating that his decision stemmed from "disappointment, disgust, and disillusionment."

He elaborated, "I had three options: leave the party, stay and try to make changes, or join another party to channel my energy and experience into positive politics. Thus, I decided to join another party with six other leaders. Seven people cannot be wrong."

AAP's Response to Departures

Chadha's recent comments and criticisms of AAP come at a time when the party has submitted a petition to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, CP Radhakrishnan, seeking the disqualification of seven members who left the party, including Chadha. The party has indicated that it may pursue legal action if necessary.

Recently, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia met with Arvind Kejriwal to strategize for the party's future. This wave of departures occurs as AAP aims to strengthen its presence in Punjab, Gujarat, and Goa ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
