Rabri Devi's Stance on Eviction Notice

Rabri Devi, a prominent leader of the RJD and former Chief Minister of Bihar, announced on Saturday that she will not vacate her official residence located at 10 Circular Road in Patna, despite receiving an eviction order from the Bihar government. Speaking to reporters, she stated that while the police may be called to enforce the eviction, she has no intention of leaving the premises.


On Friday, the Bihar government issued a notice for her eviction, indicating that the bungalow has been allocated to Nand Kishore Ram, the Minister of Animal and Fisheries Resources in Bihar.


Details of the Eviction Notice

The official communication also mentioned that Rabri Devi had already been assigned an alternative government residence due to her position as the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, yet she has not vacated the Circular Road residence. The notice elaborated that a departmental order dated November 25, 2025, had allocated a house on Harding Road to her.


Following this, the official notification confirmed that the Circular Road residence was designated for Minister Nand Kishore Ram.


Request for Immediate Vacating

The notice requested Rabri Devi to vacate the bungalow on Circular Road immediately and to reside in the accommodation designated for her role in the Legislative Council. It stated: 'This is to inform you that through departmental office order number 122, dated November 25, 2025, quarter number 39 on Harding Road, Patna, has been reserved for the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council and allocated to Rabri Devi. However, the quarter number 10 on Circular Road, Patna, previously occupied by the honorable leader, has not yet been vacated. Please be informed that this quarter has now been allocated to Nand Kishore Ram, the Minister of Dairy, Fisheries, and Animal Resources.'


Significance of the Residence

The bungalow at 10 Circular Road holds significant ties to the family of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Rabri Devi served as the Chief Minister from this residence, making it an important political site for the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
