At just 20 years old, Praggnanandhaa made history by becoming the first Indian to secure the prestigious Norway Chess title. He clinched the championship with a decisive victory over Germany's Vincent Keymer, concluding a remarkable comeback throughout the tournament.

In response to Praggnanandhaa's victory, his father stated, "We are thrilled that Praggnanandhaa has won the Norway Chess. This marks a historic moment as it is the first time an Indian has achieved this feat. We are all elated. I just spoke with his coach, who is equally delighted."


Regarding his son's upcoming competitions, Rameshbabu mentioned, "I spoke to Praggnanandhaa last night. He is feeling confident... He will be heading to Hong Kong for the World Rapid Team Tournament (FIDE World Team Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships 2026)..."

Praggnanandhaa's victory over Keymer followed impressive wins against Alireza Firouzja, Magnus Carlsen, and D Gukesh over the preceding four days.


Notably, Praggnanandhaa achieved a rare double victory over Carlsen.
