On Monday, Purani Dilli 6 celebrated their inaugural win in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, overcoming West Delhi Lions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Ankit Kumar's Stellar Performance for the Lions

The West Delhi Lions set a challenging target of 180 runs, largely due to Ankit Kumar's impressive innings of 86 runs off just 45 balls, which included eight fours and five sixes.

The Lions started strong, with openers Ankit Kumar and Krish Yadav forming a formidable 90-run partnership. Krish contributed a solid 43 runs from 31 balls, hitting seven fours and a six, before being dismissed, which allowed Purani Dilli 6 to claw back into the match.

Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Ankit anchored the innings, scoring freely. However, the absence of significant partnerships in the latter overs limited the Lions to a total of 180 runs.

Pankaj Jaswal stood out among the bowlers for Purani Dilli 6, taking 2 wickets for 30 runs in his four overs, while the rest of the bowling lineup provided crucial breakthroughs.

Victory for Purani Dilli 6

In pursuit of 181 runs, Purani Dilli 6 faced an early challenge when Rohan Rana was dismissed on the first ball. Nevertheless, Samarth Seth and Dev Lakra quickly stabilized the innings, forming a 94-run partnership for the second wicket.

Lakra was particularly aggressive, scoring 64 runs off 33 balls, featuring four boundaries and six sixes. Seth supported him with a steady 30 runs from 29 balls, ensuring the team did not falter after the initial wicket.

After Lakra's exit, captain Anuj Rawat took charge, finishing unbeaten with 49 runs off 26 balls, including four fours and three sixes. Lalit Yadav added a quick 30 runs off 17 balls, and together they led Purani Dilli 6 to a comfortable seven-wicket victory with over two overs remaining.
