Punjab Police's Major Operation Against Terrorism

Chandigarh, August 4 - The Punjab Police have successfully dismantled two terrorist modules operating with the support of Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI, and have apprehended nine individuals, including four minors. In a post shared on the social media platform 'X', Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav announced this significant achievement, stating, 'In a major breakthrough, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has exposed two terrorist modules backed by the ISI and operating from across the border. We have arrested nine suspects, among whom are four minors, and seized three pistols, four petrol bomb bottles, and nine cartridges.'

Yadav further revealed that initial investigations indicated that the accused were acting under the directives of ISI handlers based abroad.

The DGP explained that these foreign-based terrorists were attempting to recruit local youth for carrying out terrorist activities, surveilling security installations, acquiring illegal weapons, and disrupting public peace. He also mentioned that the investigation uncovered surveillance cameras installed near railway tracks, with recorded footage being shared with foreign handlers. FIRs have been registered at the Mohkamapura, Airport, and C-Division police stations in Amritsar.

DGP Yadav stated that a comprehensive investigation is underway to identify other members of the ISI-supported network, their connections, financial transactions, and involvement in further terrorist activities.
