Legal Action Looms Over Police Conduct in Punjab
Punjab Congress President and MP Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding announced on Tuesday that if no action is taken regarding the alleged police misconduct against sanitation workers in Barnala, the party will approach the High Court. Wadding stated that the party has met with the National Commission and submitted medico-legal case (MLC) reports, along with photographs and videos showcasing the injuries sustained by the sanitation workers. He informed a news outlet, "We have met with the National Commission. They assured us that they will issue notices and take strict action. We possess MLC reports and have provided numerous images depicting the injuries of the sanitation workers. We are confident that the Chairman will take action. We will definitely go to the High Court if no steps are taken."
Meanwhile, Congress MP Amar Singh also mentioned today that the party has reached out to authorities to file a complaint regarding the alleged baton charge on sanitation workers in Barnala and is demanding an investigation into the incident. Speaking to a news outlet, Amar Singh said, "We have come to file a complaint about the baton charge on sanitation workers in Barnala and are requesting the formation of an inquiry commission. We want an FIR to be registered and action taken against the police officers who assaulted the sanitation workers at the behest of the Chief Minister."
