New Digital Initiative by Punjab Congress

In response to growing concerns about leadership, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the president of Punjab Congress, has initiated a fresh digital outreach program aimed at reconnecting with grassroots party workers. Titled "Sunday with Warring and Warriors," this initiative comes at a crucial time as Bhupesh Baghel, the party in-charge for Punjab, is expected to meet with the party high command to present a report on the state's situation.

Significance of the Program

The timing of this program is particularly significant. Recently, the Congress concluded a nine-day statewide campaign during which Warring and Baghel faced opposition and disruptions from supporters of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. Channi has consistently demanded Warring's removal as state Congress president and did not participate in any events during the campaign. In his inaugural speech for this initiative, Warring aimed to foster personal connections. Rather than directly attacking his opponents, he reflected on his journey and the challenging period when he took over the party's leadership, acknowledging the dedication of those workers who stood by him when many others left.

Reflecting on Leadership Challenges

Recalling his appointment as Punjab Congress president, Warring noted that he took charge four and a half years ago during a tumultuous time. The party had just faced elections and, after managing a government with 80 seats, had dwindled to just 18. This left many party workers disheartened, with some unable to cope and leaving the party, including several prominent leaders. He remembered that Rahul Gandhi entrusted him with the responsibility of rebuilding the organization at a time when even he was uncertain about the way forward.

Acknowledging Grassroots Efforts

Warring admitted that he was unsure how to advance the party at that time. However, he was certain of one thing: the leaders in the party are its workers, who only need support and encouragement. He credited the grassroots workers for Congress's strong performance in the Lok Sabha elections, stating that their morale and hard work led to winning seven seats. He expressed his gratitude for their dedication, saying, "I owe everything to all of you."
