Punjab CM Criticizes BJP for Divisive Politics
Punjab's Stand Against Divisive Politics
The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, has launched a strong critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of fostering division among communities and creating an atmosphere of fear to secure votes. Speaking at a public gathering in Sahib Chand village within the Gidderbaha constituency, Mann emphasized that Punjab is a land of gurus and saints, where seeds of hatred will never thrive.
Mann pointed out that the BJP has gained power through divisive politics in states like Maharashtra, Haryana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, but asserted that they will not succeed in Punjab, as Punjabis celebrate every festival together.
He remarked, "Certain political parties are attempting to divide people in the name of religion."
The CM further stated that the BJP's strategy relies on sowing discord among communities and intimidating both sides for votes. He urged Punjab to reject such forces, recalling the dark days the state has previously endured that hindered its progress.
Mann vowed that the peace, communal harmony, and brotherhood of Punjab will never be compromised for political gain. He accused the BJP of making violence, division, and communal tension its 'identity,' integral to its political agenda.
He highlighted that Punjab is a sacred land of great gurus and saints who have shown the path of mutual love, tolerance, and harmony.
Discussing his 'Shukrana Yatra,' Mann explained that this journey is meant to express gratitude to the Almighty for allowing him to enact strict laws against the disrespect of Guru Granth Sahib.
During the journey, he received blessings, flowers, and ceremonial robes from numerous devotees, who welcomed his efforts to establish stringent laws to prevent disrespect towards the Guru Granth Sahib.
Mann expressed, "Whenever incidents of disrespect towards Guru Granth Sahib occurred, millions were hurt. There was always hope that the culprits would be caught and punished, but due to loopholes in the law, they often evade justice by claiming mental instability."
However, he questioned why an individual claiming mental instability would specifically target the Guru Granth Sahib.
