Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Denies Fabrication Claims Amid Forensic Controversy
Bhagwant Mann Responds to Allegations
Chandigarh: In light of ongoing controversies, Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has firmly dismissed accusations that a forensic report exonerating him was fabricated. He criticized opposition parties for allegedly conspiring to tarnish his reputation.
Mann's comments followed the arrest of two individuals by Haryana Police, who were implicated in a complaint regarding the alleged procurement of a falsified forensic report tied to a viral video controversy involving him.
In a video address, the AAP leader expressed frustration over the release of fake videos targeting him. He accused the Congress, BJP, and Akali Dal of attempting to defame him, particularly on religious grounds, as they failed to find any substantial evidence against him.
He reiterated that the individual depicted in the controversial video does not resemble him in terms of height or physique, asserting that he was wrongfully labeled guilty due to the video's circulation.
Mann mentioned receiving numerous calls from supporters who believe the video is a fabrication. He stated that a forensic examination of the video had been conducted, and he criticized the BJP for allegedly pressuring forensic lab owners to produce misleading statements.
He accused the opposition of uniting solely to discredit him, claiming they are unable to face him politically or socially in Punjab. Mann emphasized that he remains committed to serving the public, highlighting initiatives like free electricity and job creation.
He urged the public to make their own judgments, asserting his dedication to Punjab despite the opposition's tactics. The controversy escalated after the Akal Takht, the highest Sikh authority, issued an edict against him on June 15, following claims that the video was authentic.
Mann has consistently rejected the video's validity, labeling it as a smear campaign. The FIR filed in Gurugram details allegations from a complainant who claimed he was coerced into obtaining forensic reports that falsely concluded the video was manipulated and did not feature Mann.
The Gurugram Police stated they acted promptly to uncover an alleged conspiracy involving the creation of fraudulent forensic reports related to the viral video.
