Punjab Chief Minister Promises Full Support for Industrial Growth at Investor Summit
Final Day of the Progressive Punjab Investor Summit
On the concluding day of the three-day Progressive Punjab Investor Summit held in SAS Nagar (Mohali), Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann addressed entrepreneurs, assuring them of complete government backing and incentives to foster industrial development. He expressed appreciation for the robust participation of both global and national investors at the summit, noting that the 30 discussion sessions laid a solid foundation for enhancing economic momentum, creating jobs, and curbing the brain drain of young talent. Mann announced a review of investment projects every six months, emphasizing the goal of transforming Punjab into an industrial powerhouse.
Overcoming Inherited Challenges
Reflecting on the changes under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, Mann acknowledged the burdens of debt, grievances, and unresolved issues inherited from predecessors. He stated that they have addressed these shortcomings and set Punjab back on the path of development. He contrasted the past coercive practices of memorandums of understanding with the current trust-based approach, where investors willingly engage in socio-economic development, eliminating pressure tactics and promoting transparency, digitization, and decisive governance.
Commitment to Employment and Ease of Doing Business
Prioritizing employment for youth to combat drug threats, Mann urged industrialists to promote Punjab's business-friendly environment on a national scale, envisioning the state as a manufacturing hub for pharmaceuticals, IT, and other sectors. He imagined Punjab evolving into a global industrial and export center, leveraging its status as a granary and the resilient spirit of its historical figures who fought against oppression.
Political Influence of AAP and Engaging Voters
Mann credited AAP with reshaping politics by placing the common man at the center, making it essential for rival parties to prioritize education and health over divisive manifestos. He emphasized universal adult suffrage in democracy, encouraging everyone to vote, and advocated for healthy competition against monopolies, inspiring students with stories of simple successes while honoring the global endeavors of Punjabis.
