Punjab Chief Minister Inaugurates Modern Healthcare Facilities in Sangrur
Inauguration of Advanced Healthcare Facilities
The Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, has officially opened a state-of-the-art sub-divisional hospital and a specialized maternal and child health facility in Dhuri, Sangrur district. This initiative significantly enhances the regional healthcare infrastructure, with an investment of ₹21.65 crores. Spanning approximately 73,000 square feet, these facilities are set to serve around 70 nearby villages and over 58,000 urban residents. This development reflects the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's commitment to accessible and patient-centered medical services.
Comprehensive Facilities for Maternal and Secondary Care
The newly established complex includes an 80-bed sub-divisional hospital, featuring a 50-bed unit that offers extensive secondary care services, alongside a 30-bed maternal and child block prioritizing the health of women and newborns. Equipped with 13 outpatient departments (OPDs), an emergency block, seven operating theaters for major and minor surgeries, and advanced diagnostic facilities such as ECG, ultrasound, and X-ray, this hospital ensures free examinations, surgeries, and specialist consultations under one roof, including ENT and knee replacement services.
Enhancing Access to Specialized Services in Rural Areas
Mann emphasized that these hospitals will revolutionize healthcare delivery by providing cesarean and normal deliveries, emergency care, and advanced procedures under the supervision of expert gynecologists, benefiting thousands who were previously underserved. Addressing a public gathering, he highlighted how these centers eliminate the need for long travels, directly benefiting the residents of Dhuri and surrounding rural areas. This initiative aligns with the AAP's broader efforts, including the recruitment of over 1,500 doctors (more than 600 specialists) and staffing at over 800 Aam Aadmi clinics.
