Puducherry Chief Minister Confident of Statehood Amid Ongoing Development Efforts

Puducherry's Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has voiced strong confidence in the union territory's journey towards statehood, emphasizing ongoing structural efforts and collaboration with the central government. After the swearing-in of newly elected legislators, he reiterated his commitment to achieving statehood while ensuring the continuation of welfare programs. Rangasamy also congratulated the newly formed Tamil Nadu government and expressed optimism about infrastructure developments, including plans for Puducherry Airport's expansion. His remarks reflect a determined vision for the future of Puducherry as it strives for recognition as a full state.
 

Chief Minister's Vision for Puducherry

On Wednesday, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy expressed strong optimism regarding Puducherry's transition to a full-fledged state. Speaking to the media after the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected legislators, he emphasized that efforts are continuously being made in this direction. Rangasamy reiterated his commitment to the demand for statehood, highlighting his close collaboration with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He quoted the Prime Minister's assertion that Puducherry is evolving into its best version, showcasing development across various sectors and providing welfare assistance.


Rangasamy stated, "Puducherry is emerging as an exemplary state, and we will persist in our endeavors to achieve statehood. We are confident that we will succeed. The Prime Minister firmly believes that the central government will grant statehood to Puducherry, and this belief will undoubtedly remain strong."


Commitment to Welfare Programs

The Chief Minister assured that welfare initiatives will continue and that relations with the central government will remain robust. When questioned about political arrangements for upcoming vacant seats, Rangasamy mentioned that clarity would emerge only after the announcement of the by-elections for the Thattanchavady constituency. He dismissed allegations made by former Chief Minister Narayanasamy regarding a ₹100 crore deal for ministerial positions, stating that an investigation could be conducted if specific details were provided about the discussions.


Rangasamy also congratulated the newly formed government in Tamil Nadu, expressing his support for its leadership. He extended his best wishes to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and expressed happiness over the appointment of Anand to the cabinet, stating, "I am confident they will perform excellently. Anand, who has come from Puducherry, has been given a significant position, and I am delighted he has secured a place in the cabinet due to his experience."


Infrastructure Development Plans

In reference to recent productive ministerial discussions on regional infrastructure, the Chief Minister confirmed plans for the expansion of Puducherry Airport within Tamil Nadu, following consultations with the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
