Demonstration Against Persecution of Hindus

Guwahati, Dec 27: A coalition of Hindu groups, including the Hindu Yuva–Chhatra Parishad, Rashtriya Hindu Front Assam, and Hindu Aikya Manch, gathered on Saturday outside the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Guwahati to protest against what they termed the ongoing violence and oppression faced by Hindus in Bangladesh.

During the demonstration, participants shouted slogans, burned an effigy of Bangladesh's interim leader Mohammad Yunus, and set fire to the national flag of Bangladesh.

The protest aimed to highlight the alleged mob violence and persecution of Hindus throughout Bangladesh.

Organizers stated that the event was a strong denunciation of the violence and a call for immediate intervention to protect minority communities.

One protester addressed the crowd, emphasizing that the organizations could not remain silent in the face of mob lynching and violence.

"We are here to protest against the brutal acts occurring in Bangladesh. The lives lost to mob violence must not be forgotten. There should be an end to the killings of Hindus in Bangladesh," the protester declared.

The speaker also mentioned ongoing threats to Assam and the Northeast, labeling such remarks as intolerable.

Condemning recent lynching incidents, the protester referred to them as "inhuman acts" and noted that despite their anger, the protest remained peaceful.

"We are demonstrating without resorting to violence. However, if provoked and ignored, public anger will only escalate," the protester warned.

Law enforcement was present to ensure order, and the protest concluded without any incidents.

The organizers pledged to persist in their efforts until the safety and rights of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh are guaranteed and those responsible for the violence are held accountable.
