Protests Across Andhra Pradesh

On July 28, various regions in Andhra Pradesh witnessed demonstrations led by youth and student organizations affiliated with the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP). The protests were aimed at demanding a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the DSC-2025 teacher recruitment process and the resignation of the state's Education Minister, Nara Lokesh. These protests took place at district and assembly headquarters throughout the state.

The demonstrations specifically targeted the alleged discrepancies in the District Selection Committee (DSC)-2025 teacher recruitment process. According to YSRCP, this recruitment initiative, referred to as the Mega DSC, has been marred by irregularities. In a press release, the party claimed that despite extensive promotion of the Mega DSC recruitment, it was significantly affected by these issues.

The Education Minister should accept moral responsibility and resign, the party asserted. They also called for the central government to mandate a CBI investigation into the recruitment process. Additionally, YSRCP highlighted a concerning decline of over 550,000 students in government school enrollments over the past two years.

The party dismissed the government's claim that 110,000 students transitioned from private to government schools as misleading. YSRCP leaders stated that these protests were conducted to safeguard public education, government schools, and the interests of students. They urged the government to address the issues raised by the opposition.

They further alleged that while moral accountability has been acknowledged at the central level, the Andhra Pradesh government has failed to respond to the questions raised regarding the DSC-2025 recruitment irregularities.
