Protest Against Christmas Festivities

Nalbari, Dec 25: In a recent demonstration, members of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal protested against Christmas celebrations in Nalbari district. The group entered St Mary’s School located in Panigaon village, where they destroyed Christmas decorations and knocked over a statue of Jesus Christ.

Chanting 'Jai Shree Ram', the protesters set fire to banners and posters associated with the Christmas festivities. They issued a warning to the school officials, insisting that the festival should not be celebrated on school grounds.

Additionally, the protesters targeted various shops in Nalbari town that were selling Christmas-related items, burning these products in front of a shop near Jain Mandir.

The VHP and Bajrang Dal members cautioned the local community against participating in Christmas celebrations.

Vishva Hindu Parishad district secretary Bhaskar Deka expressed to reporters, 'We do not support Christian celebrations.' He clarified that while they have no issue with the sale of items related to Indian festivals, profiting from a festival that is not of Indian origin is unacceptable to them.
