Protests Continue at Jantar Mantar Over NEET Exam Irregularities

The Cockroach People's Party (CJP) is intensifying its protests at Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. As the movement enters its second month, thousands of supporters have gathered, with food and supplies being sent to the protesters. Notably, social activist Sonam Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike since joining the protests. Ongoing Demonstrations by Cockroach People's Party

New Delhi, July 22 - Protesters from the Cockroach People's Party (CJP) maintained their sit-in at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday. Throughout the night, more supporters gathered at the protest site, and volunteers received food and supplies from backers. This movement, which began due to alleged irregularities in the NEET examination, has now entered its second month.

On Wednesday morning, CJP claimed in a post on the social media platform 'X', 'Thousands of demonstrators are present at Jantar Mantar today.' The party reiterated its demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The post questioned, 'Why does the Prime Minister love Minister Pradhan more than the youth of India?'

On Tuesday night, many sent food for the protesters at Jantar Mantar, while additional supporters arrived. Despite heavy security in the area following police action during CJP's 'March to Parliament' on Monday, the protesters continued their demonstration.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka stated that the protest will persist until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. He emphasized, 'We will not leave this place until Pradhan resigns. July 20 marked a significant turning point in India's political history, especially post-independence.'

'The youth will no longer remain silent,' he added. Late Tuesday night, CJP founder Abhijit Deepke clarified that the movement had not called for gatherings anywhere other than Jantar Mantar. In a statement, he said, 'The Cockroach People's Party has not called for gatherings outside Jantar Mantar, where our peaceful protest continues.'

He alleged that the group received information suggesting that 'some goons' might have been sent to create unrest in other parts of Delhi, asserting that they are not affiliated with CJP.

This movement began on June 20, demanding accountability for alleged irregularities in examinations, reforms in the education system, and the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Social activist Sonam Wangchuk joined CJP's protests on June 28 and has been on an indefinite hunger strike since then. Despite being transferred from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital following a Delhi High Court order, Wangchuk continues his fast.
