Tragic Incident Following Protest in Rajasthan

A protest organized by the Shri Rajput Karni Sena in Rajasthan resulted in the death of a demonstrator. The organization claims that the individual lost his life due to police action during the demonstration. The protest, which took place on Monday, was aimed at demanding the withdrawal of the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations for 2026 and other issues related to the upper caste community.

The deceased has been identified as Devaraj Singh, a resident of Palada in the Didwana-Kuchaman district. According to the organization, Singh's health deteriorated during the protest, prompting his transfer to a private hospital initially. Later, he was referred to Sawai Man Singh Hospital, where he unfortunately passed away during treatment.

Mahipal Singh Makrana, the president of the Karni Sena, held a press conference where he alleged that Singh was injured due to water cannons used by the police. He stated, "The police sprayed water on Kalwad Road, and the force hit him in the chest, causing injury." Makrana further claimed that upon returning home, Singh complained of chest pain, leading to his hospitalization, where he ultimately died.

However, police officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause of death. During the protest on Monday, clashes occurred between demonstrators and police at several locations, including Kalwad Road. To disperse the crowd, police resorted to using water cannons, which led to incidents of pushing and shoving between protesters and officers. After the rally, demonstrators gathered at the Collectorate Circle, blocking the road for a while before dispersing later in the evening.
