New Delhi, Sep 10: On Thursday, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi issued a warning to the public regarding misleading deepfake videos that falsely feature her. She urged individuals to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudulent calls for investments in real estate or other speculative ventures.

Her office raised concerns after discovering that manipulated videos were circulating across various social media platforms.

Priyanka Gandhi's team has advised her supporters and the general public to refrain from engaging with these posts or responding to any requests made in the AI-generated content.

In an official scam alert shared on Instagram, her office cautioned against the deceptive AI-generated videos that misuse her likeness and voice to deceive individuals into making fraudulent investments.

“Fake videos utilizing AI-generated images and voice of Smt Priyanka Gandhi Vadra ji are being shared on WhatsApp, Instagram, and other social media platforms soliciting investment,” the Congress MP’s office stated on its Instagram account.

“These are scams. Please do not click or invest,” it added.

Priyanka Gandhi also encouraged the public to block such posts immediately and report them to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.

In recent years, scams involving deepfake technology have proliferated, leading many unsuspecting investors to suffer significant financial losses.

A deepfake video is created using AI to replicate a person's appearance and voice, resulting in a convincing imitation of the individual.

Scammers exploit this advanced technology to produce misleading videos featuring unauthorized images of well-known figures, attempting to defraud people of their money.

Recently, deepfake videos of prominent industrialists, including Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and Reliance’s Mukesh Ambani, have emerged, where online fraudsters used AI-altered videos to entice citizens into investment scams, resulting in substantial losses for investors.
