Concerns Raised Over Ram Temple Donations

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress General Secretary and MP from Wayanad, has raised serious concerns regarding alleged misappropriation of funds collected for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. She has called for a thorough investigation by January 31, 2026, and insists on strict action against those responsible. In a post on X, she questioned whether such discrepancies could solely be the work of lower-level employees, hinting at possible collusion among higher-ups. She emphasized the importance of addressing whether only lower-level staff could independently turn off CCTV cameras and manipulate donations worth thousands of crores, or if there is involvement from influential figures.

Call for Transparency and Accountability

Warning against attempts to suppress the issue, she demanded a transparent investigation and severe penalties for all involved. Priyanka Gandhi stressed that instead of superficial inquiries, a clear and honest investigation should take place, ensuring that anyone implicated in this theft faces appropriate consequences. Highlighting the temple's religious significance, she described the alleged crime as deeply troubling, stating that the deceitful act of theft has shocked the entire nation, undermining the faith of millions of devotees of Lord Ram.

The Impact of Misuse of Donations

She pointed out that donations are made with deep faith and their misuse represents a serious violation of religious trust. Lord Ram is a central figure for millions, and people bow their heads and contribute to the temple with this sacred sentiment. Those who have stolen from the Ram Temple have committed a grave sin against the very essence of faith and religion. On the same day, Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, along with trustee Anil Mishra, resigned, taking moral responsibility for the alleged embezzlement.

Legal Action Initiated

This development follows the registration of an FIR related to the alleged misappropriation of donations for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The case was filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code on the orders of the Uttar Pradesh government. The FIR includes names such as Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Avinash Shukla, Tinnu Yadav, Manish Yadav, and others. Former SP MLA from Ayodhya, Pawan Pandey, has alleged that there were discrepancies in donations ranging from ₹27 crores to ₹7.5 crores.
