Bratislava, June 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has landed in Slovakia as part of his two-nation tour, where he is set to engage in discussions with President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico, along with meeting business leaders.

Upon his arrival in the Slovak capital on Sunday night, Modi expressed on social media, "This visit offers a chance to enhance India-Slovakia relations and discover new areas for collaboration. I am eager for fruitful discussions with President Pellegrini and Prime Minister Fico."

In a statement made before his departure, Modi remarked, "This significant visit continues the positive momentum in our bilateral ties. I anticipate engaging with President Pellegrini and Prime Minister Fico, as well as interacting with Slovak business leaders."

He emphasized that this trip would invigorate India's strategic partnership with the European Union, highlighting Slovakia's vital role within it.

According to a release from the Ministry of External Affairs, this visit follows President Droupadi Murmu's State Visit to Slovakia in April 2025 and Slovak President Pellegrini's trip to India for the AI Impact Summit in February 2026.

"This visit will reaffirm India's dedication to enhancing its bilateral relationship with Slovakia across various sectors, including trade, investment, and the manufacturing of automobiles and railways," the statement issued on June 9 noted.

In a social media update on Saturday, Pellegrini stated, "Dear Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I am looking forward to welcoming you in Bratislava on Monday. Your historic visit will build on our productive dialogue from New Delhi and create new opportunities for cooperation between Slovakia and India."

Modi's two-day visit (June 14-16) follows his bilateral discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron in Nice, where he also participated in the inauguration of the 'Bharat Innovates' event.

Notably, Modi is the first Indian prime minister to visit Slovakia since its independence in 1993. After this visit, he will return to France for the G7 Summit in Evian on June 16-17.

During the summit, Modi is expected to discuss international cooperation, economic growth, and artificial intelligence with G7 leaders and invited partner nations. He is also scheduled for several bilateral meetings on the summit's sidelines.

The final segment of his trip will take him to Paris on June 18, where he will attend VivaTech 2026, Europe's largest technology and startup event, alongside President Macron.
