A Spectacular Road Show in Varanasi
On the second day of his two-day visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a road show in Varanasi on Wednesday morning, attracting a large crowd along the streets, as reported by party officials.
The road show commenced at the Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) and passed through several key locations including Lahartara, Kachahri, Ambedkar Chauraha, Chowkaghat, Teliabagh, Lahurabir, and Maidagin, concluding at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham.
Inside the temple, the Prime Minister participated in rituals and prayers, accompanied by the chanting of Vedic mantras.
After completing the prayers, local representatives welcomed him with gifts including a trident, a damru, and a traditional stole. The Prime Minister graciously accepted these gifts and greeted the attendees.
As he exited the temple complex, devotees cheered with slogans of 'Har Har Mahadev,' to which Modi responded by waving and joining his hands in greeting.
He also took a moment to converse briefly with children present at the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor.
According to Arvind Mishra, the media in-charge of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the people of Varanasi were eager to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister, with numerous party workers, officials, and local residents lining the route.
Supporters and devotees were seen chanting 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Jai Shri Ram' in honor of the Prime Minister's visit. Mishra noted that several designated spots along the route were set up for welcoming the Prime Minister, where party workers and locals showered him with flowers while playing drums and conch shells.
This approximately 14-kilometer road show is being described by party leaders as one of the largest in the city’s history. Officials reported that a significant crowd was observed on both sides of the roads throughout the route.
Following his visit to his Lok Sabha constituency of Varanasi, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
