Prime Minister Modi's Anticipated Visit to Chirang in January

Hagrama Mohilary, Chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council, has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Chirang in January. This visit is anticipated to enhance development initiatives in the Bodoland Territorial Region, particularly focusing on significant railway infrastructure projects. The Kokrajhar–Gelephu railway line has already been sanctioned, marking a crucial step for regional connectivity and economic growth. Mohilary expressed optimism about the positive outcomes of collaborative efforts between the state and central governments, highlighting the approval of various railway proposals aimed at improving transportation facilities in Assam.
 

Upcoming Visit of Prime Minister Modi


Chirang, Dec 17: Hagrama Mohilary, the Chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), announced on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Chirang in January. He emphasized the significant railway infrastructure projects that the Central Government has approved for the Bodoland area.


During a press conference, Mohilary expressed that the anticipated visit of the Prime Minister would enhance development efforts in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), with the BTC fully supporting the initiative.


He stated, “The Prime Minister is expected to come to Chirang in January. The BTC will provide all necessary assistance to ensure the event runs smoothly.”


Mohilary pointed out that railway expansion is a crucial aspect of development, mentioning that the Kokrajhar–Gelephu railway line has been sanctioned as a project by the Government of India, which he described as a vital advancement for regional connectivity and economic progress.


He remarked, “The Kokrajhar–Gelephu railway line has received approval from the Centre. This is a significant milestone for our region.”


Additionally, Mohilary recalled that shortly after the current government took office, proposals were made for railway tracks and associated facilities in various locations in Assam, including Pathsala, Nanglam, Rangia, and Sangdruk Jonkar.


He noted that these proposals have now been approved, which he termed a "positive result" of the collaborative efforts between the state and the central government.


“When we established the BTC government, we submitted proposals for railway tracks and facilities in areas such as Pathsala, Nanglam, Rangia, and Sangdruk Jonkar. The sanctioning of these projects is a promising sign for overall development,” Mohilary added.
