New Delhi, August 6 - On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged citizens to purchase handloom products and create videos to draw global attention to them. In a video message shared on his Instagram account, he emphasized that celebrating this day would benefit the country's weavers and small traders. He stated, 'Tomorrow, August 7, marks our National Handloom Day.'


Modi urged everyone to popularize the diversity of India's handloom by creating videos featuring their favorite handloom items, including formats like 'Get Ready With Me,' and sharing them on social media. He reminded the public that August 7, 1905, marked the beginning of the Swadeshi movement against British rule, which united the nation.


He added, 'Just last week, you all celebrated Friendship Day. I request you to also celebrate National Handloom Day with great enthusiasm on August 7.'
