Inauguration of the Ganga Expressway

Lucknow: Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ganga Expressway, a significant greenfield infrastructure project spanning 594 kilometers. This expressway connects Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh to Prayagraj in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Completed in a record time of less than 3.5 years, this corridor is set to boost the economy of Uttar Pradesh and strengthen India's logistics framework.

Key Features and Developers

The Ganga Expressway has been constructed under a public-private partnership model by the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority.

Total Length: 594 km.
Role of Adani Group: Adani Road Transport Limited, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited, has constructed approximately 80% of this expressway.
IRB Infrastructure: The remaining 130 km has been developed by IRB Infrastructure.

Economic and Logistics Revolution

According to estimates from the Uttar Pradesh government, this expressway is expected to save ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 crore annually in logistics costs.

Time Savings: Travel time from Prayagraj to Meerut will reduce from 11 hours to just 6 hours.
Fuel Savings: An estimated 30% reduction in fuel consumption is anticipated.
Contribution to GDP: It is projected to contribute over ₹1 lakh crore to the state's GDP.
Employment: Approximately 300,000 direct and indirect job opportunities are expected to be created over the next decade.

Safety and Strategic Importance

AI Technology: Advanced AI-enabled camera systems have been deployed for enhanced alertness and road safety along the expressway.
Emergency Landing: A 3.5-kilometer stretch in Shahjahanpur district has been developed as an emergency landing facility for the Indian Air Force.
Connectivity: This corridor connects industrial clusters, defense manufacturing areas, and agricultural belts.

Tourism and Industrial Corridors

The Uttar Pradesh government is establishing 11 industrial corridors along the expressway in all 12 districts, including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj. Additionally, it will promote religious tourism by connecting major spiritual centers such as Gadh Mukteshwar, Kalkidham, and Triveni Sangam.
