Prime Minister Modi's Visit to Gujarat and Daman
On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a significant visit to Surat in Gujarat and the Union Territory of Daman. During this trip, he is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation for various welfare and infrastructure projects worth approximately ₹22,000 crores, aimed at accelerating development in both regions. Additionally, he will address a large public gathering in Surat.
Ahead of his visit, the Prime Minister shared on 'X' (formerly Twitter), stating, "I will be present at various events aimed at enhancing the quality of life for the people in Surat and Daman on June 5. More than ₹20,000 crores worth of development projects will be inaugurated or launched during these events."
Key Projects to be Inaugurated
Among the projects set for inauguration are a 200-bed ESIC hospital in Surat and a new terminal building at the NamO Airport in Daman.
In a post on 'X' on Thursday, Modi reiterated, "I will participate in various programs aimed at improving the living standards of the people in Surat and Daman on June 5. Over ₹20,000 crores worth of development projects will be inaugurated or laid down during these events."
Enhancing Connectivity and Health Services
The Prime Minister highlighted that the inauguration of the new terminal building at the airport in Daman will enhance connectivity. He mentioned, "The NamO Hospital will cater to the health needs of the community. The foundation stone for projects like the Daman Convention Center and the NIFT campus will also be laid."
According to an official statement, Modi will visit Hazira in Surat district to review infrastructure projects.
Launching Development Initiatives
Following this, he will initiate various development projects worth around ₹18,800 crores in Surat and address a gathering on this occasion. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate packages six and seven of the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, which aims to enhance high-speed transport, logistics efficiency, and economic connectivity between Gujarat and Maharashtra.
In Daman, he will inaugurate the new terminal building at NamO Airport and the NamO Hospital. The statement further noted that he will lay the foundation for various projects aimed at strengthening modern infrastructure, promoting tourism, attracting investments, creating job opportunities, and improving the quality of life for residents. Overall, approximately ₹2,970 crores worth of projects will be launched in Daman.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will digitally lay the foundation for four significant projects worth around ₹885 crores for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, which includes the development of port facilities on the eastern and western coasts of Kalapeni and Kadmat islands.
