Prime Minister Modi to Launch Major Development Projects in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on March 1, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for numerous development projects worth over ₹2,700 crores. His agenda includes launching new electric buses, enhancing infrastructure, and addressing public gatherings. Notably, he will dedicate the Karasur-Sedarapet Industrial Estate and unveil significant infrastructure projects in Madurai, aimed at improving connectivity and supporting economic growth. This visit promises to bolster various sectors, including healthcare, education, and urban services, making it a pivotal moment for the region.
 

Upcoming Visit by Prime Minister Modi

On March 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Following his trips to Rajasthan and Gujarat, he will arrive in Chennai around 9 PM on February 28. The next morning, at approximately 11:45 AM, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for various development projects worth over ₹2,700 crores in Puducherry. During this event, he will also address a public gathering. According to an official announcement, these projects aim to enhance infrastructure, urban services, industrial growth, education, healthcare, and sustainable development across the Union Territory. As part of the PM e-Bus service initiative, he will flag off new electric buses. Additionally, he will inaugurate the Integrated Command and Control Center under the Smart City Mission, housing facilities for economically weaker sections under the CITIIS scheme, and several sewage and water supply projects. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Block and Ganga Hostel at the National Institute of Technology, Karaikal, along with a modern Regional Cancer Center at JIPMER and new buildings at Pondicherry University.


Dedication of Karasur-Sedarapet Industrial Estate

A significant highlight of the day will be the dedication of the 750-acre Karasur-Sedarapet Industrial Estate to the nation. This estate will feature a pharma park, textile park, IT park, a research center from IIT Madras, and advanced healthcare facilities from JIPMER. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for upgrades to drinking water systems, the construction of 41 rural roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, heritage town development, mangrove restoration under the MISHTI scheme, and various infrastructure projects related to water, sanitation, and electricity.


Special Projects and Public Events in Madurai

After completing his engagements in Puducherry, the Prime Minister will head to Madurai. Around 3 PM, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for infrastructure projects exceeding ₹4,400 crores. He will also initiate the four-lane construction of the NH 332A section from Marakkanam to Puducherry and the NH 87 section from Paramkudi to Ramanathapuram. According to the release, these highways are expected to significantly reduce travel time, enhance connectivity, and support economic development in the region.
