Incentives to be Distributed at Science Bhawan

The Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, announced on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute incentives under the Prime Minister Developed India Employment Scheme (PM-VBRY) on June 19 at Science Bhawan in New Delhi. During this event, over 1.5 million beneficiaries will receive incentives totaling ₹2,400 crores through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Before the funds are transferred, the Prime Minister will engage in direct conversations with some young employees, who are entering the job market for the first time, as well as employers.

Mandaviya stated that the main event at Science Bhawan will be broadcast live to regional programs held in 200 industrial clusters across the country. These regional programs will feature governors, chief ministers, central ministers, deputy chief ministers, state labour ministers, MPs, MLAs, mayors, and other dignitaries. During these events, both employers and employees will be honored, and appointment letters will be distributed to employees.

The total budget for PM-VBRY is ₹99,446 crores, aiming to create 3.5 crore jobs over two years. Under this scheme, first-time job seekers can benefit up to ₹15,000, while employers can receive up to ₹3,000 per month for each new employee. Additional benefits are provided for up to four years to promote employment in the manufacturing sector.

By August 2025, over 6.3 million employees who are entering the formal workforce for the first time will have benefited from PM-VBRY, with approximately 30% being women. More than 80% of the institutions receiving incentives under 'Part B' are small enterprises with fewer than 25 employees. This highlights the scheme's crucial role in supporting small and emerging businesses, which are a vital part of India's economy.
